Photos and Stories

It has been said that a picture is worth a thousand words. That may be true, but what are those words? Does every person who looks at a photo have the same words? I am quite sure that they don’t. I think the better statement is that a photo is a story, each photo tells a story and that story is different for each person. LeeAnn and I have some interesting conversations as we cull through the many photographs that we take. She sees one thing and I see a vastly different thing. That is what make this photo taking adventure fun, exciting and unique.

Make it stand out

Take this picture for example. What do you see when you look at this picture? Just a big building? An office building? An old hotel? A high rise apartment building? A haunted tower? It is a building in downtown Lexington that LeeAnn and I captured one evening while shooting with the trusty Nikon in the early evening hours. Done in black and white this photo brings the mystery of yesteryear to my mind. The old Alfred Hitchcock movies, where suspense and an underlying feeling of the evil to come.

Make it stand out

No evil is found here, or maybe there is, what do you think? Is there another woodpecker over there? Are they feuding? Possibly they are forming a relationship? Is this little bird hungry? It could be mad at me, I had been taking pictures of it for an hour or better at this point, maybe it is hollering “leave me alone!” When i look at this picture I see the beauty of God’s creation, the bright piercing eyes, the sharp beak made for digging into the wood, the bright red crown on the head. The feathers that lift this creature into the sky when taking flight. What is your story?

Whatever your story is it belongs to you. Keep looking around your taking in the things that surround you as you pass though this life. Make stories, make memories and enjoy all that life has given you! If you like, stop by here often we are continually adding more and more photos to help you create your own story!

God Bless

Jim
