Tiny Tim

Herbert Butros Khaury wrote a song in 1968 called “Tiptoe Through the Tulips”. You may not remember Herbert by this name but if you are old like me you will certainly remember Tiny Tim. I guess Herbert would have rather been called Tiny Tim than Herbert, but to each their own! Well recently it seems that LeeAnn and I have found ourselves tiptoeing, not through tulips but many different arrays of natures beauty known as the flower. I have always been aware of the flower and the beauty that in adds to this landscape, but have never taken much interest in them. LeeAnn on the other hand is what I might call a flower connoisseur. She knows her flowers.

This lady of mine has gone as far as adorning our patio with flowers. I will get in trouble for this as soon as she reads this blog, but I have no earthly idea what types of flowers they are, she told me, but I don’t remember. Is it really necessary to remember? They are pretty, and they make the patio a delightful spot to sit and relax and look at said flowers. I told her just today that those flowers were very pretty and I enjoyed having them there on the patio. Yes, I am struggling here to get out of the dog house before I actually get into it. I like those flowers, LeeAnn, they are beautiful and you take care of them so well, she is a flower connoisseur after all.

Sunflowers

UK Abortorium is full of colorful flowers!

Flowers and Bees and Little Living Creatures

Again the Abortorium and the University of Kentucky provides beauty and life for viewing!

To me it is amazing how when we find ourselves amidst a plethora of flowers LeeAnn can tell me what each and every flower is as well as when they grow and when they bloom and how one should take care of this particular plant to make it thrive and grow. I find this very fascinating and interesting which leads to a desire to grab a photo of these flowers. Okay, back in the dog house here, will I remember that information the next time I encounter the same flower along my travels? Probably not, it took me almost two years to comprehend what a forsythia bush was. One might say that I am a slow learner!

Waiting on the Swan Family

Lexington, they say has a swan family living in the pond, and they are right, but while we waited these caught LeeAnn’s eyes!

There are the swans!

Not a flower, but such a beautiful bird!

As spring quickly turns into summer the flowers around us are putting on quite the display of beauty and color for us to enjoy. Crazy, but it seems where ever we find ourselves, there too are flowers. High Bridge Park, Lexington Green, UK Abortorium and even our patio! Of late that seems to be what the trusty Nikon D 850 seems to want to take pictures of, and to be honest I must say I am really enjoying it. I have placed a few pictures from our travels for you to enjoy.

As you look though some of these photos, just go ahead and do it. You know you want to, and you don’t ever have to tell anyone that you did, if Herbert were still around he would appreciate you taking time to listen. Sadly, Tiny Tim passed away in 1996, but just do it, look up Tiptoe Through the Tulips and give it a listen.

God Bless

Jim
